Nhu-Ngoc Ong, Ph.D.

Nhu-Ngoc Ong (Ông Thụy Như Ngọc) is publisher and editor of Việt Tide (baoviettide.com), Vietnamese and English e-magazine and archival space, formerly a weekly circulated nationwide in the US.

Also an entrepreneur in the local food industry, she actively supports efforts to promote education, arts and culture.

As a scholar interested in a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and topics, Ms. Ong was instrumental in bringing the World Values Survey, an international barometer, to Vietnam for the first time in 2001. Her groundbreaking research has been published in the Journal of Vietnamese Studies, Japanese Journal of Political Science, Comparative Sociology, and as chapters in books by Oxford University Press (England), IFA (Germany), Edwin Mellen Press (U.S.). She has traveled to present numerous academic papers, talks and guest lectures at research conferences.

Education background: Ph.D. in Political Science from UC Irvine (2009; Peltason Democracy Fellow 2001), M.A. in Social Sciences (UCI, 2005), M.A. in Psychology (CSU Fullerton, 2001), B.A. in Psychology and minors in Philosophy and Music (CSU Fullerton, 1999).
